Poconos Skiing

CamelBack Ski Resort - Tannersville, PA has
33 slopes, 13 lifts, & snow tubing park. The largest in the Poconos. Voted
the "Best Ski Resort in the Poconos" 2002,3,4.
Check out Matt and Drew's
review for the reasons. (It has something to do with the
cheeseburgers). Well maintained. Friendly staff. The most trails. The most
lifts and usually short lift lines. (Last year they closed ticket sales when
the lines got longer than about 20 minutes. A bold move.)
- Shawnee Ski Resort
Shawnee-on-the-Delaware, PA - has 23 slopes, 9 lifts, snow tubing. Ya can't
get closer to New Jersey and New York than this only about 7 min from NJ.
Trails vary from easy to expert. Lodge, Ski School, Restaurants and Bar. Try
to go mornings or on the off peak days and hours for the best experience.
Big Boulder Lake Harmony, PA has 14
slopes, 7 lifts, snow tubing. The Little Sister of Jack Frost. But, the
longest running ski resort in the Poconos. A great place to learn. The Home
of snowmaking in the Poconos. Good elevation so the snow is usually here
earliest in the season and latest in the spring. A great boarder mountain
(see the review).
Jack Frost Ski Resort
Blakeslee, PA
has 21 slopes, 7 lifts, snow tubing. Widest trails, lodge at top of
mountain, sister of Big Boulder. Blakeslee. Great Views of just empty
mountains from most of the slopes. Feels like you're truly in the woods.
Good size and equipped lodge, up to date rentals, well patrolled and over
all a great skiing experience. Jack Frost with it's wider trials tends to be
the best cruising mountain in the Poconos. Slightly less crowded than the
others.
Tanglwood
Ski Resort - Lake
Wallenpaupack, PA
- has 9 slopes, 5 lifts,
plus snow tubing. Tanglwood ski area has provided great family skiing for
forty years. A modern snowmaking system, and high elevation Pocono Mountains
location with its colder temperatures, provides the opportunity to make snow
when other areas cannot. When night falls the lights go on illuminating all
the trails. SKIwees Saturdays, Sundays and the Christmas Holiday. First-time
skier and group-lesson packages are available and for those who wish to
build on their existing skills, private lessons for all levels of skiing and
snowboarding.
Give
Skytop Mountain Lodge and Resort - Skytop, PA
any of the four seasons and they
will give you a lifetime of memories.
(List of Activities)
Skiing included in the price of the room (rentals extra), tobogganing, ice
skating, snowshoeing, swimming, sledding. And this is just the beginning.
Pick your favorite season, stay for a long weekend or a week and you still
won't have time for everything. This is a Great ski area for families, 4
lift serviced trails, brand new snow making, cozy new lodge, 300' of
elevated fun. (longer trails) Skytop has the feel of a high end Colorado
Resort. Well, except for the 300' drop. Cross Country skiing, too!
Blue
Mountain Ski Area Near Jim Thorpe, PA - has
1,082-foot
vertical, plenty of trails for ALL abilities plus a half-pipe and two
terrain parks. Blue Mountain has 30 slopes, 8 lifts - including a high-speed
detachable quad. Snow tubing is a great alternative for the family or group
of friends just wanting some wintertime excitement.
And there are two lodges one at the base and one at the
summit.
Alpine Mountain has 20 slopes, 3
lifts, 900 ft tubing run Analomink 570 595-2150 Alpine is the best beginner
area in the Poconos. Good for both Beginning skiers, families and Boarders.
the mountain is not intimidating and usually has good snow (they make it)
and there is a tubing park for the non skiers. The lodge is spartan and
rustic but you'll feel as if you were learning to ski or ride in the 1960's
(not a bad thing).
Pocono
Manor Resort has - Cross-country
skiing and ice skating. (no downhill, but near Camelback) A real
treasure of an inn. Old time family fun. Pocono Manor Classic cross country
trails with a balance of flat, downhill and uphill. Some views and you'll
not get lost if you go slightly out of bounds. A great family retreat with
things to do for the kids while mom and dad go x-country.
